This discussion has more depth than the common discussion of tariffs in the large media outlets. It shows systemic connections between what we do and developments and events abroad. For example, I was not aware of the domino effect of the Smoot-Hawley Tariffs on Europe in general and the Weimar Republic in particular.

The potential for similar systemic effects now make it even more urgent that we convince a majority in Congress to pass a resolution declaring that there is no emergency, which will put a stop to Trump’s tariff nonsense.

Their plans are clear:

* Destroy workers' savings

* Destroy social safety nets

* Flood the job market with former public and private sector workers

* Make all aspects of life unsafe

* Stockpile riches; drive the populace into abject slavery

We can either sit and watch or fight fire with fire.

Thank you for a very informative article. It was easily digestible and I can only hope more Americans will read it and understand what’s about to befall us.

Thank you for the great article, Tim! Of course, it just confirms all my fears.......

A much wider population needs to understand these ramifications of Trump's policies and be relentless in demanding change from their Republican house and senate reps.

What are the top three things you want the Democrats in both houses to do? Please be clear and specific. We can help to encourage them. Be part of the solution.

Once again, well thought and to the exact point we need to consider. But I'd add one caveat:

our President doesn't want people to go hungry or lose their homes. He just doesn't care--about them; or about what he both owes and is obligated to do for this country that elected him (& as much as I didn't vote for him, our country did). Sad thing is this: he only cares about how much money he can skim--both off the top and from the bottom and every individual in between. A true grifter
